Artists See Things Differently

…in the cognitive functionality sense, apparently.

No, really.  From the article linked below:

Art teachers have noted that when beginning students attempt to draw accurate portraits, they tend to exaggerate the size of key features: eyes and mouths are too big relative to the size of the head. Trained artists learn to ignore these temptations and draw the world as it really appears.

So two scientists in Norway have apparently taken it upon themselves to test this art school truism. Here’s the Science Blogs link: Artists look different (found via Gurney Journey from a link on Twitter).

Note that the original article dates from 2007 but the Gurney Journey post dates from today. This is a great example of how attention on the web can appear in waves over time. -Wes
