I woke up one morning, and going out into the forest, came upon a thousand monkeys chattering. So taking it upon myself to find out why, I questioned them, saying: “Why do you chatter so?”
“We chatter because it is a Sunday!”
“The chattering is because today it will rain.”
“Our chatter is a great song. Do you like our song?”
“We are chattering because we itch.”
“My chattering means I am hungry. So too for the others.”
A thousand monkeys gave me a thousand answers. And I know that they did not lie. Why do monkeys chatter? All answer, none answer.
As for me, I will write and draw and give no thought to other things, save to answer the unquiet of those around me.
