Happy Holidays!

December 20th, 2008

By the way, there’s snow.

So here’s the current state of affairs - I’ve spent the last three weeks mainly working on job hunting and on paying jobs. These two tasks, with a few very short breaks for things like eating and running errands, have pretty much locked up 100% of my waking hours. I’m apologetic about this, but not really sorry - I gotta eat, guys. In three weeks I’ve been to one movie, and spent about three hours in a bar one night. That’s it. No wild parties, no drinking, no TV, no internet forums, just work.

Unfortunately, the comic’s suffered from a dearth of updates during this period as well, which is frustrating, especially for me - I’d expected to have more time to work on it, but ironically the opposite’s happened. Now the holidays have arrived, and starting tomorrow I won’t be near my main PC for about two weeks - including my scanner, which I require if I’m gonna post comic updates.

Rather than trying to slap something together at the last minute, or carting my entire computer setup all over hell’s half-acre, I’m making a call that’s really hard for me - I’m extending the “I’m moving” hiatus across the holidays. I’ve got about ten pages of updates ready for inking, and I’m taking those pages and my inking stuff with me for the holidays. The plan is to have the first several weeks of 2009 ready to go in time for the new year. That’s the best I can do, under the circumstances. I can’t justify working on the comic instead of sending out a resume, making money, or spending time with my child.

If I’m anywhere near on-track, not only will I have a production buffer going into 2009, but we’ll be at a milestone - the blueline “sneak peek” pages will go offline, because all of those pages will be inked and toned.

So that’s where things stand right now. I’d like to take a moment to thank everybody for their interest, time, and patience with me and my crazy life. Also, thanks to Josh for being both patient and pushy at the same time…sometimes that’s the best approach.

Happy holidays, everyone! I’ll see you in January.
