I’m a designer at my day job, so I basically come home and have to look even more work in the face if I want to do any of my own stuff. Moreover, much of my creative energy has been spent before I can even sit down to draw something fun in the evening.
Given that I’m also a parent, you can probably see where this is heading.
At the end of April I realized I wasn’t doing enough of my own art. In an effort to step my game up, I decided the best approach was to set myself a challenge. One piece of art a day, posted online, with a theme. Aim for about 30 minutes per piece to keep things loose and make it a bite-size project that still leaves room for other things alongside.
And here we are. One dragon a day, every day, for a year.
You can find the individual blog posts showing each piece along with some commentary. Posts are tagged, so it’s a simple matter to find all of the Daily Dragons and look through them individually.
On the other hand, if you just wanna see the goods, I post a gallery at the end of each month which shows all of the dragons for that month in chronological order.
