Found this courtesy of @monstercutie via Twitter: a street artist going by the moniker “Above” has created a purposeful way to play with the intersections of light, shadow, graffiti, and guerilla sculptural installations. My inner art nerd is insisting that this is a “quasi-metaphorical expression of the ideal of graffiti as transitory or ephemeral art [...] Theo Jansen is an amazing Dutch artist, sculptor, and engineer – all at the same time. His work is classed as “kinetic sculpture,” a discipline which hybridizes art and engineering techniques to produce complex but aesthetically pleasing devices which are somewhere between machine and sculpture. |
